Information

  • On September 11th 2001, a group of AL-Qaeda terrorists coordinated a series of coordinated attacks on the twin towers in New York, United States. Four passenger air crafts were hijacked by 19 AL-Qaeda terrorists and two crashed in to the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex. Both 110 story towers collapsed. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon. And a fourth plane went down in Pennsylvania after passengers fought the hijackers. Experts think this plane was headed for the White House or Capitol Building. Fortunately, this one went down in a field.  The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $3 trillion dollars in total cost. More than 400 police officers and firefighters died, 343 of which were firefighters. All 45 people aboard the 4th plane were killed, but unfortunately only 6 people in the World Trade Center towers at the time of the collapse survived. 125 military personnel and civilians were killed in the Pentagon, along with all 64 people aboard the air line. Al-Qaeda hated the increases of people in their country and the military presence, which made them decide to carry out an attack. Some of the terrorists have lived in the United States for more than a year and had taken flying lessons at American commercial flight schools. But all in all, Osama bin Laden was the mastermind behind the September 11th attacks. In 2003, many believed  that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction and that there was going to be another attack on the United States. Because of the military presence there a whole war began.
